VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES:
We are seeking LEADERSHIP VOLUNTEERS to work with the El Rio Board of Trustees to accomplish essential tasks needed to open the school by September 2013.
If you have these skills and would like to share them to help us open El Rio Charter School email us at elriocharter@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line and a little about yourself and your offer. Someone from the relevant part of the organization will follow up with you and together you will work out how to make room for you.
Volunteer Coordinator
Commitment: Approximately 6-10 hours a month including attending monthly capacity team meetings and development team meetings. We are asking for at least a 6-month commitment to this project.
Tasks: Recruit and manage volunteers; update and organize the volunteer database; match tasks with volunteers.
Skills: familiar with database management, experience working with a diversity of people, friendly, organized, results-oriented.
Website and Graphic Design
Commitment: Approximately 6-10 hours a month including attending monthly development team meetings. We are asking for at least a 6-month commitment to this project.
Tasks: Design public meeting flyers and invitations to events, up-date content on the website and design mass email content (i.e. invitation to public meeting).
Skills: Familiar with print and web design programs.
Outreach Committee Chair
Commitment: Approximately 12-15 hours a month including attending monthly development team meetings. We are asking for at least a 12-month commitment to this project.
Tasks: Lead a committee of volunteers to generate interest in and build community support for the school, as well as collect petition signatures. Outreach may include networking with churches and other community groups and setting up information tables at community events (i.e. fairs, farmers markets etc).
Skills: familiar with Highland Park and surrounding neighborhoods, experience with outreach, bilingual (Spanish-English), ties to non-profit organizations and/or religious organizations in Highland Park, experience working with a diversity of people, organized, results-oriented, knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about public Waldorf education methods.

Commitment: Approximately 6-10 hours a month including monthly development team meetings. We are asking for at least a 6-month commitment to this project.
Tasks: Research grants that we are eligible for. Coordinate the grant writing effort and write portions of the grant as needed (in conjunction with BOT members).
